Hi! My name is Emma Murdock and I'm a designer! I recently graduated with honours from the Honours Bachelor of Interaction Design Program at Sheridan College.
At my very core, I am a person who really, really, just wants to have fun with life. As a designer, I bring this principle into everything I do, and always find myself asking “what is the personality behind what am I designing?" and “what can I do to make this less static and bring it to life?"
Whether it be building a new concept for a design, collaborating with others to bring their ideas to reality, or growing my skills and learning, I strive to for all my work to inspire people to be inspired to have a little more fun with everything they do.
When I'm not designing, you can find me enjoying sci-fi shows, movies and books, doing jigsaw puzzles, and having good times with my friends.

My time in the IxD program at Sheridan was nothing short of transformational.
From starting as a beginner in design, to graduating with a diverse skill set that I am proud of, I have had the opportunity to work on countless projects (both individual and collaborative) that have taught me not only the technical fundamentals of interaction design, but also allowed me to start living by the principles of interaction design: always staying focused on and opening myself up to be a conduit for the voices of people that products, systems, and designs are made for.

The Art Fundamentals program was a wonderful way to start my post-secondary experience, and not only truly allowed me open up to and discover what types of art and design I am passionate about, but also helped me to hone my skills in them.
From learning about typography, to the elements and principles of design, to colour theory, I gained a robust toolbox of skills that I still carry with me today and apply to everything I do.

Staying true the spirit of SJC, in my work I wear many hats and am always ready to take on a new challenge.
As part of the Creative team I have the privilege of collaborating with, pitching creative concepts to, creating advertisements, animations, images, 3D models, and media for, and going above and beyond for a wide variety of clients, ensuring that they continue to thrive.
Through doing research, testing new software and tools, and compiling detailed reports, I am also proud to help SJC stay up to date on and grow with the fast-emerging AI within the industry.

As part of the Awards & Annual Giving team at Sheridan College I made it my goal to ensure that students could receive the awards and financial aids, and donors could receive the recognition and stewardship that they deserve.
Through creating and updating databases, researching potential donors, conducting financial metrics, and creating detailed profiles, I maintained communications with over 500 students in over 15 different programs and all of their generous donors in order to make sure that everyone can keep making a difference.
